90 invasive Giant African Land snails were seized by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at Detroit airport last month. The snails, considered an invasive species that can damage crops and homes, were discovered in a passenger's luggage arriving from Ghana. The passenger had declared fresh food items and was sent for secondary screening, where an agriculture specialist noticed a woven bag containing the snails.
