Tagum City court has sentenced ACT Teachers party-list Rep. France Castro and former Bayan Muna party-list Rep. Satur Ocampo to up to six years in prison for endangering minors in a 2018 solidarity mission. The Tagum Regional Trial Court Branch 2 found Castro, Ocampo, and 11 others guilty of violating Section 10(a) of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act. The court ordered the defendants to pay P10,000 as civil indemnity and P10,000 as moral damages to each of the 14 minors, with an interest rate of 6% per annum from the finality of the decision until full payment.
