The Bombay High Court granted a 10-day parole to a murder convict to bid farewell to his son, who secured an admission for a postgraduate course abroad, and arrange tuition fees and other expenses. The court held that if parole can be granted to share grief, it can also be for a happy occasion. The provisions of parole and furlough have been considered as a humanistic approach towards convicts.
