Endangered shorebirds on south coast beaches experienced positive growth during the most recent nesting season, with species like Pied Oystercatchers, Hooded Plovers, and Little Terns seen in greater numbers than previous years. Volunteers, National Parks and Wildlife Service staff, and other stakeholders monitored nesting birds, nests, and chicks around the clock. Pied Oystercatchers saw 67 pairs successfully fledge 45 chicks, and Hooded Plovers, listed as critically endangered in New South Wales, had an exceptional season with 17 chicks fledged from 27 breeding pairs.
