Australian company fined AUD 465,480 for unlicensed import of SF6 greenhouse gas-containing equipment.
The Australian arm of an unnamed company was fined AUD 465,480 for importing electrical equipment containing sulphur hexafluoride (SF6), the world's most potent greenhouse gas, without a license. Between September 2023 and March, investigators intercepted equipment at major ports, seizing over AUD 3 million worth of gear containing 517 kilograms of SF6, equivalent to the emissions of nearly 5,000 cars for a year.
