2021 BC heatwave caused 619 deaths; BCEHS urges checking on at-risk groups during hot summer days.

BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) reminds residents to check on vulnerable family, friends and neighbours during hot summer days, as the indoor heat is the cause of more illness, injury and death. Vulnerable groups include those living alone, over-65s, pregnant women, children under five, those under substance influence, and those with mental illnesses. This comes after the heat dome in summer 2021 killed 619 people in B.C.
