A high-grade highway linking Lhasa and Xigaze in China's Xizang Autonomous Region has opened, reducing travel time between the two largest cities from six hours to three hours. Stretching 245 km, the four-lane highway is part of a national route linking Ya'an, Sichuan Province to Yecheng County in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The new highway is expected to boost regional development and improve transportation in the region.
