2022 Connecticut ambush killings of two police officers linked to anger with police, personal life pressures, and substance abuse.

Connecticut's Inspector General report finds the ambush killings of two police officers in 2022 were likely fueled by an earlier angry interaction with police, along with personal life pressures and substance abuse. Nicholas Brutcher attacked the officers after they responded to a call he had made about his brother, later killing himself in a shootout with a third officer who survived. Brutcher had 14 registered firearms, including the assault weapon used in the attack, and a blood alcohol level more than three times the legal limit for driving.
