EU downgrades political contacts, considers freezing aid to Georgia due to passing "foreign agent" law.

The European Union will downgrade political contacts with Georgia and consider freezing financial aid to the government after it passed a controversial "foreign agent" law. EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said this after a meeting of the bloc's foreign ministers in Luxembourg. He added that if Georgia's government does not change its course of action, the country will not progress on the European Union path. The EU will increase support to civil society and media and "adapt measures" as necessary.
