Invercargill Mayor Nobby Clark, accused of misconduct at a firefighters' event, returns early from heart surgery leave, extends absence by a month.

Invercargill Mayor Nobby Clark, who faced allegations of disrespecting guests at a firefighters' event, is taking an extra month off work after returning too soon from heart surgery. The council initially approved a three-month leave of absence, but Clark returned after just two months. Clark, who has apologized for his behavior, will use this time to refresh and prepare for his role, as Deputy Mayor Tom Campbell takes over during his absence.
