A waste-oil shortage looms for renewable fuel makers due to rising global targets for sustainable aviation fuel production by 2030. The US, Europe, and China combined can only collect enough used cooking oil (UCO), a key component of renewable fuels, to meet these targets, according to Transport & Environment lobby group. Western nations' reliance on Asian imports, particularly from China, to meet biofuel demand could lead to supply shortages.
