Divers recovered a probable WW1 German UC-42 submarine propeller from Cork Harbour.
Divers have recovered a propeller, believed to be from a World War One German submarine UC-42, which sank in Cork Harbour in 1917. The marine archaeological team hopes to confirm the propeller was part of the German submarine following further tests. The recovery operation involved the Blackwater Sub-Aqua Club, Mizen Archaeology, the National Monuments Service, the National Museum of Ireland, and German embassy officials.
