The 120-year-old Australian coal ship SS Nemesis, lost in 1904 with 32 crew members, was discovered 160 meters underwater off the NSW coast.

The SS Nemesis, a 120-year-old Australian coal ship, has been discovered off the NSW coast 120 years after it vanished with 32 crew members during a storm in 1904. The wreck was found 26 km offshore, 160 meters underwater, by a remote sensing company while searching for lost cargo containers. The Nemesis, built in 1881, operated in the coal trade between Newcastle and Western Australia during the 1890s gold rush. Underwater imagery provided by CSIRO aligned with historical photographs and sketches, enabling NSW Heritage experts to confirm the ship's distinctive features.
