The Big 12 Conference explores selling naming rights and a private equity investment.
The Big 12 Conference is considering selling the league's naming rights to a title sponsor, with potential revenue in the "hundreds of millions" over the course of such a deal, ESPN reported. The commercial sponsor's name could replace "Big" in the name of the conference. In addition to this move, the Big 12 is also exploring a first-of-its kind private equity investment, with Luxembourg-based CVC Capital Partners in talks for a possible cash infusion of $800 million to $1 billion in exchange for a 15% to 20% stake in the league.
