25-year-old David Shangreaux Jr., charged with November 2023 stabbing murder of 17-year-old Evie Maxey in Pierre, found incompetent to stand trial. Sixth Circuit Judge Kristina Klinger ruled outpatient treatment not appropriate due to safety concerns, ordering Shangreaux to the Human Services Center in Yankton for up to four months. New court-appointed attorneys Clint Sargent and Raleigh Hansman of Sioux Falls have been appointed.
