Mosquito samples in Saginaw County, Michigan tested positive for Jamestown Canyon Virus (JCV) on May 22. JCV, a mosquito-borne virus, has caused illness in six Michiganders in 2021, one in 2022, and four in 2023. Although the risk of infection in Saginaw County is low, precautions are recommended to prevent mosquito bites, including avoiding outdoor activities during dawn and dusk, wearing protective clothing, and using DEET-containing insect repellents.
