Michigan health officials warn residents to protect against mosquito bites as the Jamestown Canyon virus (JCV) has been detected in mosquito samples in Saginaw County. JCV, along with West Nile virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis, can cause severe illness. MDHHS advises Michiganders to take precautions including wearing protective clothing, using insect repellent, and eliminating standing water where mosquitoes breed.
