70% of Canadians support a carbon tax exemption for farmers' use of propane and natural gas, according to a Leger poll cited by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation. Farmers use these fuels for grain drying and heating barns. The federal government currently exempts carbon tax from gasoline and diesel used on farms, and a bill under consideration would extend this exemption to natural gas and propane.
