Chicago's Bronzeville community introduces one of the nation's first solar-powered microgrids, providing backup power for 1,000 customers across 17 buildings. The system, powered by rooftop and ground-mounted solar panels, generates 10% of the area's annual electricity needs. Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, the microgrid is part of ComEd's initiative to make Bronzeville a "smart community."
