Montgomery County, Maryland partners with AlphaStruxure to build the US's largest renewable energy-powered transit depot microgrid, aiming for a 100% carbon reduction by 2035.
Montgomery County, Maryland and AlphaStruxure broke ground on a 5.65MW microgrid project, the largest renewable energy-powered transit depot and largest transit depot microgrid in the US. The project, which includes solar arrays, electric bus chargers, battery energy storage, and a county-owned hydrogen electrolyzer, aims to support Montgomery County's goal of reaching a 100% reduction in carbon emissions by 2035 and is the cornerstone of their effort to transition to a fully zero-emission bus fleet. The microgrid will be completed in 2025.
