A jury in Benton County, Iowa, has found Samantha Bevans guilty of first-degree murder for suffocating her stepmother, Jodie Bevans, with a pillow in July 2022. Bevans, 35, faced a life sentence without parole. She had claimed her boyfriend, Tacoa Talley, who was convicted of first-degree murder last year, was controlling her and was responsible for the killing. The sentencing is scheduled for June 14.
