Canada and Manitoba are launching the Indigenous-led Red Dress Alert system to inform the public when an Indigenous woman or girl goes missing. The initiative, funded by federal and provincial budgets, aims to prevent deaths and facilitate safe reunions, addressing the higher homicide rate for Indigenous women and girls. The Manitoba pilot project will help inform a future national alert system.
