Blood test measuring inflammatory molecules predicts stroke risk, according to a new study.

A new study suggests that a simple blood test could determine the risk of a potentially fatal stroke by measuring concentrations of inflammatory molecules. The study, published in the journal Stroke, found that a higher concentration of these molecules is associated with a higher risk of stroke and cognitive decline, especially in the elderly. Currently, determining a person's risk for cerebral vascular diseases relies on a combination of imaging, family history, demographic variables, and other risk factor evaluations.
