Eye tests using retinal images can predict stroke risk as accurately as cholesterol or blood pressure checks.

A new study published in Heart reveals that routine eye tests, specifically fundus imaging, can predict stroke risk as accurately as traditional factors like cholesterol and blood pressure. Analyzing 29 indicators from retinal images of over 45,000 people, researchers found that features like vein density and branching angles are strong predictors. This noninvasive method could be a useful tool in primary healthcare settings for assessing stroke risk.
