South Africa's Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) applauds an agreement to halt the retrenchment of 6,000 workers at the South African Post Office (SAPO). The agreement follows extensive engagements with SAPO's business rescue practitioners and the intervention of COSATU and several ministers. The deal may involve a temporary relief scheme for employers and employees, with 75% of salaries paid by the Temporary Employer/employees Relief Scheme (TERS) and 25% by SAPO for up to 12 months, as long as the TERS application is successful.
