A study published in JAMA Network Open found that the incidence of RSV hospitalization for children under 5 years increased in 2021 and 2022 compared to 2015-2019. RSV, a common respiratory virus, can cause severe illness in young children and infants. The study, which involved 924,061 participants, found a 4.86 times higher likelihood of hospitalization in 2022 compared to 2015-2019 for children aged 24-59 months, and a 1.77 times higher likelihood for infants aged 0-5 months.
