NHS England pushes RSV vaccine for 1.3M elderly and pregnant women to curb severe infections.

NHS England is urging 1.3 million elderly people aged 75-80 to get vaccinated against RSV, a virus that can cause severe lung infections. The vaccine aims to reduce hospital admissions and GP visits. Also eligible are pregnant women from 28 weeks on, as RSV can be dangerous for infants. The vaccine rollout began in September 2024, with nearly 1.5 million people vaccinated so far.
