Thames Valley Police officer Oliver Downing fired for mistakenly assaulting autistic man in Slough.

Thames Valley Police officer, Oliver Downing, has been sacked for kneeling on an autistic man's head and punching him during a case of mistaken identity in Slough, Berkshire. In March 2022, Downing and two other officers pursued a father and son, believing they were involved in a fight near a petrol station. The misconduct hearing found Downing had wrongly punched the father and taken the son to the ground out of fear he was armed.
