Northern Ireland native Rosemary Coogan becomes UK's third astronaut, completing ESA training and eligible for spaceflight.

Northern Ireland-born Rosemary Coogan has become the UK's third astronaut after completing a year of basic astronaut training with the European Space Agency (ESA). Coogan, an astrophysicist, joins six other new astronauts and is now eligible for spaceflight. The astronauts will move on to pre-assignment and mission-specific training, preparing for future missions to the International Space Station and beyond.
