Louisiana Senate committee advances bill to remove nitrogen gas asphyxiation from execution methods.

Louisiana Senate committee unanimously advances a bill to remove nitrogen gas asphyxiation from approved execution methods. The method was only used once and Louisiana law also allows for lethal injection and electrocution. The bill, sponsored by Sen. Katrina Jackson-Andrews, will next be considered by the Senate. The Jews Against Gassing Coalition supports the bill, drawing parallels between nitrogen gas asphyxiation and Holocaust gassing.
