Alabama has authorized a second nitrogen gas execution for death row inmate Alan Eugene Miller, following the first nitrogen gas execution in January. Miller has an ongoing federal lawsuit challenging the execution method as a violation of the constitutional ban on cruel and unusual punishment. Despite this, the Alabama Attorney General's office maintains that the execution was "textbook" and plans to carry out more death sentences using nitrogen gas.
