Texas man Mercele Brooks, 28, pleaded guilty to his role in a $1 million customer refund scheme involving a Kansas call center. Brooks admitted to accessory after the fact to laundering monetary instruments. Four employees at Advanced Call Center Technologies in Junction City processed fraudulent refund claims totaling around $1 million between December 2016 and August 2018. They deposited the funds into the bank accounts of co-conspirators who would return a portion of the money to the employees.
