Los Angeles man Mitchell Vaughn Lee pleads guilty to wire fraud, diverting $1.5M from Texas royalty account.
Mitchell Vaughn Lee, a man from Los Angeles, has pleaded guilty to two counts of wire fraud in Midland, Texas. He used personal information from a mineral rights owner to illegally access and divert around $1.5 million from their royalty account with Diamondback Energy in February 2022. Previously prosecuted for firearm possession, he could face up to 20 years in prison for each fraud count, pending sentencing. Lee remains in custody.
