24-year-old Miami man, Kader Gahmaal Biwaki Edmond, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud in a federal court in Connecticut. Edmond and his accomplices targeted Zelle users by sending fake text messages pretending to be bank representatives, tricking victims into transferring money into fraudulent accounts. The scheme defrauded over $250,000 from numerous victims, including several in Connecticut, between February 2021 and August 2023. Edmond is set to be sentenced on August 14, 2024, and faces up to 30 years in prison.
