India's DGCA requests airlines to propose timeline for implementing revised FDTL norms, addressing pilot fatigue and requiring more pilots.
India's aviation regulator, the DGCA, has asked airlines to provide a proposed timeline for implementing revised Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) norms. The new rules aim to increase pilots' rest time, limit night landings, and address pilot fatigue. Airlines are concerned that the implementation of these norms will require around 20-25% more pilots and have asked for more time to hire and train them. The DGCA has been asked to provide a likely implementation date in the next hearing scheduled for May 8.
