Indian pilot union urges civil aviation ministry to implement revised flight duty norms to address pilot fatigue concerns.
The Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) with 6,000 members has urged the Indian civil aviation ministry to implement revised flight duty norms to address concerns about pilot fatigue. The FIP cites the Directorate General of Civil Aviation's (DGCA) delay in implementing the revised CAR (Civil Aviation Requirement) as endangering pilot and passenger safety. A study by NGO Safety Matters Foundation identifies factors such as consecutive night flights, over 10 hours of flight duty, and roster instability as contributors to pilot fatigue.
