France's Conseil d'État suspends meat-labeling ban decree over legal concerns, pending EU court response.

France's top administrative court, the Conseil d'État, has suspended a decree that aimed to ban plant-based products from being described as meat due to concerns about its legality. The French government had issued the decree in February, stating that terms such as "vegetarian ham" or "vegan sausage" were confusing for consumers, but the suspension puts the future of the ban in question. The State Council is suspending the implementation of the labelling law until the Court of Justice of the European Union responds to a query on its legality under EU law.
