Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has criticised the opposition for accusing the BJP-led government of orchestrating an "undeclared emergency". Singh, who was jailed during the Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi's government in 1975, recalled his experience of being denied parole to visit his ailing mother and attend her last rites. Singh said, "those who imposed dictatorship through Emergency, they accuse us of being dictatorial."
