77-year-old Ayer woman, Ruth Maxant-Schulz, faces 30 counts of animal cruelty after 162 animals were seized from her home. Ayer police and the Ayer Animal Control Officer were called for a well-being check and found several animals roaming outside, some dead inside and outside the home. Maxant-Schulz was arraigned and released on personal recognizance, surrendering custody of all seized animals.
