BIR conducted a large-scale operation in Cavite, raiding 3 illicit cigarette warehouses with a total tax liability of P5.4bn. Master cases of cigarettes, production machines, raw tobacco, & fake stamps were seized. The BIR aims to protect legal businesses & level the playing field by encouraging registration & tax payment. Raids led to criminal & civil charges for illicit traders & smugglers, targeting P325bn in excise taxes this year.
