1 person died, 5 injured in a two-vehicle crash on Castlereagh Highway near Mudgee on April 5. A southbound ute and a northbound SUV collided, resulting in critical injuries for a 32-year-old woman, who later died. The driver of the SUV, a 34-year-old man, and the front-seat passenger in the ute, a 68-year-old man, were seriously injured and airlifted to Westmead Hospital. Two young girls, aged 2 and 6, who were back-seat passengers in the SUV, were also injured and taken to The Children's Hospital at Westmead.
