A three-vehicle crash on the Hume Highway north of Mittagong closed all southbound lanes and resulted in two injuries. The incident occurred on March 18, with a 69-year-old woman from Cootamundra sustaining multiple injuries, including fractures, and being airlifted to Liverpool Hospital. The male driver of the hatchback, also 69 and from Cootamundra, was taken to Liverpool Hospital for cuts and mandatory testing. The truck driver was uninjured but arrested, taken to Bowral Hospital for mandatory testing, and is now in custody at Southern Highlands Police Station.
