India plans to end urea imports by 2025 through increased domestic production and reviving closed plants.

India plans to end urea imports by 2025, aiming for self-sufficiency through increased domestic production and a two-pronged strategy. This includes reviving closed urea plants and boosting domestic production capacities, which are expected to reach around 325 lakh tonnes after the commissioning of the fifth plant. The government also encourages the use of alternative fertilisers like nano liquid urea and nano liquid di-ammonium phosphate.
