Dax, a German shepherd, sustained injuries while apprehending a suspect in March, leading to a diagnosis of cervical and thoracolumbar Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), preventing his return to active duty. Dax, who joined the force at 13 months old, has been hailed for his service and saving "countless lives," including his handler's.
