90-minute rail disruption at Brighton station due to a herring gull on train tracks.

A bird on train tracks at Brighton station caused a 90-minute rail disruption during rush hour, forcing Thameslink to close three platforms and switch off power to remove it. The herring gull affected services including Brighton to London and Gatwick Express, with the disruption lasting until 8:20 pm. Thameslink advised passengers to allow an extra 20 minutes for journeys due to the presence of the "endangered species of bird (herring gull)".
