55-year-old South Carolina lawyer Alex Murdaugh, already serving life without parole for the murder of his wife and son, has been sentenced to an additional 40 years in federal prison for financial crimes. Murdaugh has admitted to stealing millions of dollars from clients of his law firm to feed an opioid addiction. The 40-year sentence will run concurrently with his existing 27-year sentence. Murdaugh denied killing his wife and son.
