BC government exempts certain strata hotels and motels from Short-Term Rental Accommodations Act.
The BC government announced that certain strata hotels and motels will be exempt from the province's Short-Term Rental Accommodations Act, which aims to address the province's housing shortage. Strata hotels and motels that provide accommodation in a manner similar to a hotel or motel before Dec 8, 2023, and have one or more employees providing housekeeping services, will be exempt from the principal residence requirement. Parksville's Resort Drive will also be exempt from the Act, providing relief for impacted property owners.
