90% of complaints to Ireland's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 2023 were about odour and noise from industrial sites, with the food and drink sector and waste processing being the main sources. The EPA conducted 1,200 inspections, 91% of which were unannounced, leading to a 36% decrease in complaints from 2021. The agency concluded 22 prosecutions, imposing fines of €137,750 and costs of €245,047.
