Working parents in the UK can apply from May 12 for the second phase of the largest ever expansion of free childcare in England, providing 15 hours of government-funded childcare per week for eligible children aged 9 months to 5 years old, starting from September 2024. The rollout aims to support families and provide accessible, affordable, and quality childcare, with an estimated 400,000 parents accessing support with childcare costs for the first time, saving nearly £7,000 annually for those using the full 30 hours starting in September 2025.
