Northern Ireland's Education Minister Paul Givan announced a £25m ($36.6m) package to support early learning and childcare. The investment will offer a new childcare subsidy scheme to working parents and extend funded pre-school education to 22.5 hours a week for all children in the year before they start primary school. The measures, including direct support for providers, aim to save working parents with two children in full-time childcare around £8,000 a year and represent the most significant enhancement of early years investment in Northern Ireland in decades.
